Description
General Description
N3-PEG-NHS is a heterobifunctional polyethylene glycol (PEG) reagent bearing an azide (N₃) group at one end and an N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) ester at the other. The NHS ester reacts efficiently with primary amines to form stable amide bonds, while the azide group enables bioorthogonal “click chemistry” reactions with alkyne-functionalized molecules.
This structure makes N3-PEG-NHS a versatile linker for PEGylation, surface modification, and bioconjugation applications.
Applications
- Protein and peptide PEGylation via NHS ester chemistry
- Surface functionalization of nanoparticles and biomaterials
- Bioorthogonal click chemistry (azide–alkyne cycloaddition)
- Drug delivery system modification
- Bioconjugation and linker chemistry in biomolecular engineering
Summary
N3-PEG-NHS is a bifunctional PEG linker designed for efficient covalent coupling and click chemistry-based bioconjugation, widely used in drug delivery, nanotechnology, and surface engineering applications.
