Aldehydes (Ald)
Aldehydes are versatile reactive compounds containing a terminal aldehyde (–CHO) functional group. Aldehyde-functionalized PEGs, polymers, lipids, and small-molecule reagents are widely used in bioconjugation, surface modification, hydrogel formation, drug delivery, and biomaterials research.
Aldehydes react readily with primary amines to form imine (Schiff base) intermediates, which can be converted to stable secondary amine linkages by reductive amination. Aldehydes also react efficiently with hydrazide and aminooxy groups to form hydrazone and oxime linkages, respectively.
NSP offers aldehyde-functionalized PEG derivatives, polymers, lipids, and bioconjugation reagents for protein and peptide modification, nanoparticle functionalization, surface engineering, hydrogel preparation, and biomedical research.
