Description
General Description
PLGA-Maleimide combines the biodegradability and biocompatibility of poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) with the highly reactive maleimide functional group. PLGA has been extensively used in controlled drug release systems, biodegradable nanoparticles, microspheres, and implantable medical devices.
The terminal maleimide group readily reacts with sulfhydryl-containing molecules under mild conditions, forming stable thioether bonds. This enables efficient conjugation of antibodies, peptides, aptamers, proteins, and other targeting moieties to PLGA nanoparticles, facilitating the development of targeted drug delivery systems and advanced biomaterials.
