Description
Maleimide-PEG-NH₂ is a versatile heterobifunctional PEG linker designed for the site-specific conjugation of biomolecules and nanomaterials. The maleimide functionality readily reacts with sulfhydryl-containing peptides, proteins, antibodies, and other biomolecules under mild conditions to form stable thioether linkages.
The terminal primary amine group provides an additional reactive handle for coupling with NHS esters, activated carboxylic acids, aldehydes, isocyanates, and other amine-reactive molecules. The PEG spacer improves water solubility, reduces nonspecific interactions, minimizes immunogenicity, and enhances biocompatibility.
Maleimide-PEG-NH₂ is commonly used in antibody-drug conjugates, nanoparticle surface modification, protein labeling, targeted drug delivery systems, and advanced biomaterials development.
