Description
General Description
DMPE-PEG-Maleimide is a phospholipid–poly(ethylene glycol) conjugate containing DMPE (1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine, C14:0), a hydrophilic PEG spacer, and a terminal maleimide functional group. The maleimide group reacts selectively with thiol-containing molecules to form stable thioether linkages under mild conditions.
Key Properties
- Maleimide-functionalized lipid PEG conjugate
- Thiol-reactive functional group
- DMPE lipid anchor for membrane incorporation
- PEG spacer improves aqueous solubility and steric stabilization
- Biocompatible lipid–polymer hybrid material
Applications
- Liposome and lipid nanoparticle functionalization
- Thiol-mediated bioconjugation
- Surface modification of nanoparticles and biomaterials
- Targeted drug delivery system development
- Protein and antibody conjugation
- Hydrogel and polymer functionalization
Functional Overview
The DMPE lipid segment anchors into lipid bilayers, while PEG provides flexibility and stealth properties. The terminal maleimide group reacts efficiently with thiol-containing molecules to enable stable conjugation and surface functionalization.
Summary
DMPE-PEG-Maleimide is a versatile thiol-reactive lipid PEG conjugate widely used in liposome engineering, bioconjugation, and advanced drug delivery applications.
